Exoma Energy spuds exploration well in Australia

Exoma Energy has spudded Alma-1, an exploration well to test coals seam gas (CSG) and shale oil/gas in the Galilee basin, Longrach Queensland, Australia.


The company is investigating for CSG in Permian Coal Measures and for shale oil and gas and Toolebuc Shale at the Galilee Basin located on the ATP 996P permit.

The total depth of the well is planned at 1,275m with the Top Toolebuc Shale at 453m and Top Permian Coal at 1,030m.

The company is also targeting to drill CSG in the Betts Creek and Aramac coal measures and test it at different elected intervals to measure permeability.

The company with its partner China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has started drilling the exploration well as a part of the Galilee Joint Venture's 2012 exploration program.

Exoma has a 50% interest in the Alma-1 well and ATP 996P and the other 50% will be acquired by CNOOC Galilee Gas Company by a farmin and contribute the first $50m of joint venture expenditures on Exoma's five Galilee Basin ATP's.
